Holistic methodology develops an analysis of scientific dynamics which is more complex than those produced by traditional methodologies. In holistic methodology the advance of economic knowledge is the result of a three-dimensional arbitration by the profession between scientific characteristics, social relevance and production costs. The consequence of this permanent arbitration has been - and still is-a renunciation to explore certain scientific paths, which in fact appears paradoxical as far as progress in knowledge is concerned.
